About Us
As Jesus was preparing to pay the ultimate price for your sin and ours, he foretold of Peter’s coming trial, that Satan was coming to ground him to powder—“sift him as wheat”—and the result of this trial would be Peter’s denying Christ, not only once, but three times. Peter emphatically replied that he would die for Christ before he would deny Him. Even as Christ knew this looming failure of Peter, He infuses words of encouragement and gives him a powerful mandate: “after thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren”. (Luke 22:32) This message of hope and restoration resonates deeply in the story of Dan and Christy Hubbard.
Dan and Christy Hubbard were high school sweethearts. After marrying at the end of Bible college, their hearts were set to serve the Spanish people of Mexico. God re-routed their lives, and they spent two decades facing multi-layered trials, struggles, failure, and victories. Cancer discovered at the young age of twenty-seven altered their world. Together they faced ministry pressures, miscarriage, chronic cancer, surgeries, treatments, uprooting their young family and moving to South America to serve as missionaries, pastoring, seasons of depression, moral failure, sexual sin, adultery, and restoration, all while rearing five children. Cancer took Dan’s life in May of 2022, leaving Christy to navigate widowhood at forty-two, solo parenting their five children, and more sorrow upon sorrow.
This blog is dedicated to sharing from a lifetime of being “sifted as wheat”, and finding a real God in the midst. Truth that has grounded and guided through the darkest of seasons will be shared. Come explore perspective on marriage, ministry, childrearing, suffering, caregiving, restoration, and grief. The Hubbard Family’s hearts desire is only to “strengthen our brethren” in Christ.
